✨Get to know Music Moves Chicago: Events✨

Welcome back to learning more about our Music Moves Chicago initiative! Today we’re tackling another one of their major pillars: events.

Throughout the year, Music Moves Chicago offers a wide range of programming including hands-on workshops, concerts featuring touring artists, recurring productions, community celebrations, and more. Some signature events include the Black History Future Folk Symposium, Future Folk Festival, Africa Out West, Global Carnival, and Baile de Bomba. Productions have featured acclaimed artists and ensembles including the Academia de Bachata, Azania Drum, Los Médicos, SILKROAD, Khadijah Siferllah & Bnat El Houariyat, and many more. Earlier this week, Old Town School students from the New Americana Ensemble class got to share the stage with the one and only Dawes 🎶💫🤩

The class had been working on the song “All Your Favorite Bands” by Dawes throughout the session, and the band offered for them to join the artists on stage at the Salt Shed to play the song during their concert!

We’re so proud of the students and teaching artists who performed during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and thank you to Dawes for having them participate! This is no doubt an Old Town School story for the ages ♥️
