What a great discussion and art exhibit with Lillian Young Art at DePaul University. The artwork of Lillian Young, "Wanted: Runaways" and "The Black Elder Archives", was the centerpiece of the panel discussion "The Problem with Archives" hosted by IBPE and DePaul Humanities Center. The discussion included the difficulty to find historical archive documentation in all public archive institutions (museums, libraries, education) for people of color, genders other than white males and the economically marginalized. Panelists also spoke about the work they are doing to provide inclusion of all people in archives through intergenerational teaching, portraiture and more. Panelists along with Lillian Young were Marcy Dinius, Professor of English, and Laura Kina, Professor and Vincent de Paul Professor, The Art School, with moderator Symone Johnson, Assistant Professor of African and Black Diaspora Studies. Lillian Young is also the Family Programs Director at the Brooklyn Museum.
