Today, HSA Belmont High School serves grades 7–12 with a STEM-focused, college-preparatory program.

Our Student Ambassadors Visit Concept Schools Central Office!

A huge THANK YOU to our Concept Schools Central Office for hosting our HSA Belmont Student Ambassadors yesterday!

Our students had the opportunity to learn more about Concept Schools and get a behind-the-scenes look at the important work that happens at headquarters to support our schools, staff, and students.

A special thank you to Mr. Duman, President/CEO and Dr. Aytekin, Chief Accountability & Human Resources Officer, for taking time to have lunch with our students, answer their questions, and getting to know our future leaders.

Mr. Duman also led a thoughtful activity where students were given a quote and challenged to paraphrase it in their own words and explain what it meant to them. It was a great opportunity for our Ambassadors to practice critical thinking, communication, and sharing their individual perspectives.

Experiences like this help our Student Ambassadors understand that leadership goes beyond representing our school—it means thinking critically, communicating confidently, building relationships, and understanding the bigger picture.

We are grateful to our Central Office team for investing time in our students and helping them see the many people working behind the scenes to support their success.

What Exactly Is a Charter School? 🏫

You may have heard the term “charter school,” but what does it actually mean?

A charter school is a public school that operates under a charter and has additional flexibility to design programs, curricula, and school practices around its mission.

At HSA Belmont, that mission includes STEM-focused, college-preparatory education while creating a safe and enriching environment where students can grow academically and personally.

And yes—HSA Belmont is tuition-free and non-selective.

We know e-bikes, electric scooters, and other electric devices are becoming increasingly popular with teens. Before your student heads out, make sure your family knows the rules of the road!

The **Illinois Secretary of State** has important guidance for riders and families, including:

🚲 Where e-bikes can be ridden
🛴 Rules for electric scooters
⚡ The difference between low-speed e-bikes and high-speed e-motos
🔞 Age restrictions for certain devices
🚫 Where riding is NOT permitted
🪖 Important safety reminders

**Parents & guardians:** Take a few minutes to review the flyer with your student—especially if they ride an e-bike or scooter to school or around the neighborhood.
