SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) has recently recognized the LUC SIAM Student Chapter in a feature article. The chapter held several successful events during the 2024-2025 academic year and established a strong presence on campus. The College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago has chosen to spotlight LUC math alumni, Daniella Pombo. Daniella works for IBM where she manages a multimillion-dollar portfolio of clients with a focus on business strategy. Xiang Wan, an assistant professor in our department, was awarded an NSF LEAPS grant. This is one of the most prestigious grants that the National Science Foundation gives out to junior researchers. It will fund many activities over the next two years, including student research, seminars, our recently established Student SIAM Chapter, and travel to conferences and workshops. Congratulations!

Rafael S. González D’León and Carmen Rovi, both assistant professors in our department, each recently received AMS-Simon's travel grants. These grant are awarded by the American Mathematical Society and will support a significant amount of travel over the next two years, allowing Drs. Gonzalez and Rovi to collaborate on important research with mathematicians from around the world. It will also help support seminars within our department. Congratulations!

DATAFEST (LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO)
