Tired of unmotivated students? Frustrated with behavior management? I found a game-changing (literally!) solution: a classroom point system that works for middle schoolers—even reluctant learners!

Inspired by Daniel Pink’s Drive, I set out to create a simple, effective gamification strategy that would boost student motivation without feeling “babyish” or overwhelming. But existing platforms were either:
🚫 Too complicated
🚫 Too young for middle school
🚫 Lacking point deductions
🚫 Blocked by my district’s tech policies

So, I built my own in Google Sheets—and the results have been unbelievable.

✅ Students were instantly hooked—even my most reluctant learners started asking for extra work to earn more points.
✅ Behavior management improved—a swearing student? No problem. Each swear cost 25 points. Guess who stopped swearing? 😉
✅ Math skills skyrocketed—students naturally practiced number sense, saving vs. spending, and comparing greater than/less than.
✅ Homework struggles disappeared—I started offering points for completion, and suddenly, students wanted to do their homework.
