This year marks the 100th commemoration of Black History Month. Dr. Carter G. Woodson and the founders of the Association for the
Study of Negro (now African American) Life and History established
Negro History Week in 1926 to ensure that the stories and contributions of
Black people would be seen, valued, and remembered across generations and continents.
