We also provide advocacy support to parents by attending meetings and helping them work with their child’s school.

Gumm Consulting, Assessment, and Advocacy Services (GCAAS) was founded as an effort to support parents and students with navigating the often difficult world of special education, IEP services, and 504 accommodations. GCAAS provides psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, to determine if a disability exists (learning disability, ADHD, Autism, etc). In addition, we can provide schools and school districts with consultative support and student evaluations.

Summer is finally here! ☀️ While we all love a break from the school routine, keeping a little 'fun learning' in the mix can make the transition back in the fall much smoother.
Here are three fun tips for parents and students this summer:
1. The 'Grocery Store' Math Challenge: Turn a weekly errand into a game! Have your child help estimate the total cost of items or calculate discounts. It’s a great way to practice real-world math skills. 🛒
2. Nature Journaling: Grab a notebook and head to a local park. Encourage your child to draw or write about the plants and animals they see. This builds observation and writing skills in a stress-free way. 🌿
3. Family Book Club: Pick a book to read together and have a 'mini-meeting' over ice cream to talk about your favorite parts. 🍦
At Gumm Consulting, Assessment, and Advocacy Services, we believe that learning happens everywhere. We hope you have a wonderful, restful, and fun-filled summer!

To the moms who are also case managers, research experts, and fierce advocates: Happy Mother’s Day. 💐

We know that being a "Special Ed Mom" comes with a unique set of challenges. You’ve spent late nights researching IDEA laws, you’ve sat through emotional meetings, and you’ve celebrated small victories that others might not even notice.

Your love is the engine that drives your child’s progress. But even the strongest engines need a tune-up and a little support.

At GCAAS, our mission is to stand beside you so you don’t have to carry the weight of advocacy alone. Today, we hope you take a moment to celebrate the incredible impact you have made on your child's life. You are doing a beautiful job, and your dedication is changing their future.

Wishing a peaceful and joyful day to all the mothers and caregivers in our community!

Happy National Teacher Day! 🍎✨

As we kick off Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible educators who go above and beyond for our students.

At GCAAS, I see firsthand that the best advocacy happens when parents and teachers work as a team. We know that behind every successful IEP or 504 plan is a teacher (a whole team of them!) who cares deeply about seeing their students thrive, grow, and overcome obstacles.

To the special education teachers, the classroom teachers, the therapists, the aides, the psychologists, and social workers: Thank you for your patience, your expertise, and your heart. You make a world of difference.

Parents: Is there a teacher who has made a significant impact on your child’s journey this year? Tag them below or drop a ❤️ to show some love!

Preparing for the Annual Review
The "Annual Review" doesn't have to be a source of anxiety. Going in prepared is half the battle! 📝

Before your next meeting, try these things:

Review the Current Goals: Have a look at last year’s goals before the meeting. Has your child met them? If not, why? Being familiar with the "old" plan makes it much easier to understand the "new" one.

Write down three specific concerns you have.

Remember: You should receive a draft of the IEP before the meeting starts!

Need a professional eye to review that draft with you? Send us a DM! 🔗 Book a Consultation at gummcaas.com

The "IEP vs. 504" Breakdown
Confused about whether your child needs an IEP or a 504 Plan? You aren't alone! While both provide support, they serve different purposes.

🔹 504 Plan: Focuses on accessibility and removing barriers to learning (like extra time on tests).
🔹 IEP: Provides specialized instruction and specific goals for students who require more than just accommodations.

Knowing the difference is the first step in getting the right support. Still not sure which path fits your child? We can help you look at the data.

You Are Your Child’s Best Advocate! 🛡️

Navigating the world of special education can often feel like you’ve been dropped into a foreign country without a map—and suddenly, everyone is speaking in acronyms. Between IEPs, 504 plans, and LREs, it is completely normal to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or even a little bit lost.

If you’ve felt that "meeting fatigue" or the heavy weight of making sure your child’s needs are seen, I want you to take a deep breath and remember one vital truth: You are the world’s leading expert on your child.

At Gumm Consulting, Assessment, and Advocacy Services (GCAAS), we see the heart and dedication you pour into your child's education. While the school brings the data and the curriculum, you bring the history, the personality, and the vision for their future. Your seat at the table isn't just a formality—it is the most important one there.

Why Your Voice Matters:
You See the Full Picture: You know how your child learns at home and what drives their passion.

You Are the Constant: Teachers and administrators may change, but you are the lifelong champion of your child’s journey.

Partnership is Key: A great IEP is built on a bridge between home and school, and you are the architect of that bridge.

You don’t have to do this alone. Whether you are preparing for your very first evaluation or you feel like your current plan isn't quite hitting the mark, we are here to provide the clarity and support you deserve.

Are you feeling prepared for your next school meeting? If you’re feeling stuck or just need a second pair of expert eyes on your paperwork, let’s talk
