Brickton Montessori is an accredited private school, with Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st-8th grades. Also programs for 3-36 months.

In 1986, a group of committed parents and Montessori educators opened Brickton Montessori School as an educational alternative that presents learning as a joyful, exciting process. The school of two staff members and four children opened that summer in the basement of a local church and by August moved into a portion of a local public elementary school. Brickton expanded to five classrooms in its

Brickton's student of the week is Micah Flanagan!

From his very first days in Children's House to now at the end of Upper Elementary, Micah has grown into a thoughtful, curious, and creative member of our community. Friendly, open-minded, and with a great artistic side, he brings imagination and enthusiasm into everything he does. Whether taking initiative during group projects, listening carefully to others, or exploring new ideas through books and learning, Micah approaches each day with curiosity and care. We are so proud to celebrate him as our Student of the Week!

Q: How do you contribute to making Brickton a peaceful place?
Micah: I always feel like one of my favorite things to do, whenever there’s a big group project that needs to be done… I always feel like I have to take the initiative so that everything can go as planned. If there’s one central, main thing going on, there really isn’t much else that needs to happen.

Q: What does being a leader mean to you?
Micah: For me, being a leader means taking initiative, listening to other people when they say things, and kind of really just following what other people do so that everything works out well. Because if you just force everything to be exactly how you want it, nothing’s going to turn out right.

Q: What do you like learning about when no one asks you to — something you love to study on your own?
Micah: That’s actually kind of a hard question! I really like math specifically, but I really just like everything in general. If there’s one thing I had to choose, though, I think it would probably be reading a book. I read a very wide range of books… I’ve actually just reread The Hunger Games series. I did not see the movies yet, but the books are really good.

Brickton's student of the week is Maria Temblador!

From her very first days in our Montessori Children’s House to now thriving as a 2nd grader, Maria has grown into a thoughtful, curious, and joyful part of our community. Sweet, funny, and always eager to learn, she approaches new challenges with patience and determination. Maria’s creativity, love of discovery, and kind heart make her a wonderful friend and a student who brings warmth and positivity to those around her. We are so proud to celebrate her as our Student of the Week!

Q: What is something nice your teachers do or say?

Maria: Something [Heather] says to all of us is “even if it’s hard, you can still do it.” Like, keep trying and trying. And [Madeline] tells me when she likes what I draw.

Q: If you could teach someone something you learned in school, what would it be?

Maria: I really like the Greedy Goblins for teaching division! It’s these little stamp things, and the math sheet says how many you’re supposed to get. And then you get how many hundreds or units, and divide them up.

Q: What helps you stay patient when you learn something new?

Maria: If it’s difficult for me to do my math sheets, [Heather] will say, “let’s try it this way.” Then if I don’t get it, I can tell her, and she shows me an easier way that helps me
