TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science of NEIU

NEIU - STEAM Pathways Initiative has opened the application for our Saturday STEAM Academy Spring 2024.

If you know a high school student interested, passionate, or just curious about Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, this program is for them.

The program is completely free and offers the following:
- Receive a stipend of participation of $425.00
- Receive transportation from school to our University
- Receive a certificate of participation
- Become eligible for our 6-week summer program in 2024
- Become eligible for our national and international STEM leadership trips (FREE)

Eligibility : (1) Enrolled at Back of the Yards College Preparatory High School, Benito Juarez Community Academy, Solorio Academy High School, Thomas Kelly College Preparatory High School, or Instituto of Health Science Career Academy ; (2) First-generation college-bound, and/or (3) income eligible.

Engage with students from Latin America to increase your STEM knowledge and Spanish skills.

Students selected will engage in person at NEIU El Centro
• App development and Microcontroller coding
• Tagalog culture and language classes
• STEM professionals panels
• Collaborating with students from Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, and Argentina
• Certificate of participation, digital badge, and letter of recommendation
• Eligible to participate in the week-long STEM project Colombia in 2023

We are ecstatic to share our video documentary from the summer 2022 in Colombia Medellin.

On August 21st, 2022 High school students from Chicago Public Schools and J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 travel from Chicago to Medellin Colombia for the GLOBAL STEAM Leadership Academy.

All 8 students selected have been part of our programs at Center for College Access and Success of Northeastern Illinois University since they were in 6th grade. 6 of them are current college students in STEM fields and the other 2 are still in high school. This opportunity was completely FREE to all 8 students due to the amazing work of our NEIU Pathways team.

During this global experience we partnered with Secretaría De Educación De Medellín, Alcaldía de Medellín, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and Instituto Universitario Salazar y Herrera
