The Voice Lab opens this fall. 🎶

This 6-week online group course is for singers who want to:

- explore their voice
- understand songs more deeply
- build musical confidence
- learn how to practice with more clarity
- grow in a supportive community

The Voice Lab is designed especially for singers who may not have formal music training, but who want a more grounded, thoughtful, and encouraging way to approach singing.

We begin Wednesday, September 24.

The closer I get to this year’s Chicago Jazz Festival, the more I find myself thinking about what it means to "return".

There’s the obvious excitement of coming back to a festival that has meant so much to me—and getting to do it this time with a larger ensemble and a fuller musical palette.

But there’s something else in it, too.

A lot of life happens between one opportunity and the next. You keep working. You keep changing. The questions you ask yourself about your music, your purpose, your voice—and even what you want from a creative life—change along with you.

So this performance feels a little less like simply “coming back” and a little more like arriving again from a different place.

I don’t have a tidy conclusion for all of that yet. :) But I’m very grateful to have the chance to bring who I am now into this music, with some extraordinary musicians beside me.

And I hope you’ll be there to share it with us. ❤️

A little more than three weeks from now, I’ll be returning to the Chicago Jazz Festival —and I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to come back.

There’s something very different about returning to a place after time has passed. You’re not quite the same artist. You’re not quite the same person. The music has lived a little more life with you, too.

This time I’ll be coming back with a full septet, which gives me the chance to open up the music in ways I’ve wanted to for a long time—and to share the stage with musicians whose voices and artistry I deeply respect.

I’m still finding the words for everything this particular moment means to me. Maybe I don’t need to have all of those words just yet. :) For now, I’m grateful for the opportunity to return, to make some music, and hopefully to share a beautiful afternoon with some of you.
