Today is the LAST day of the book fair! Patricia, one of our phenomenal toddler teachers, also picked “Wash Day Love” the story of bonding and family time that happens even through day-to-day moments. It’s always a good time when you’re surrounded by people who love, and who love you! 🩷

We will have the book fair set up until the end of the evening- make sure to grab your final picks! Happy Reading!

Happy Book Fair! Today some members of our Open Space family picked out their favorite books from the bunch.

KayLee, our wonderful preschool teacher, picked "The Reflection in Me," a story about self-love that is so valuable even in the earliest years.

Kelsey, one of our Assistant Directors, chose "The Wonder You See" by Joanna Gaines. This is a story of finding beauty in all the little things.

Alondra, our magical Infant 1 teacher, selected "Never Touch an Animal ABC: S is for Shark." Alondra loves these sensory-seeking books for her infants to explore!

Finally, our other Assistant Director, Sarah, chose a classic silly book with a twist! "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Rainbow!" From rainbows to glitter to clouds, read and find out what the little old lady will try out next...

Please come by our book fair during pick-up time all week, this week and next!

Our Preschool children and teachers have been reading the book Stone Soup by Heather Forest as they discuss the importance of helping, sharing, and working together! In the beginning of the story, the townspeople are hesitant to share their food with the travelers, but little by little, they get enough ingredients to make the most delicious stone soup for the whole village!

Yesterday our Preschool classroom enjoyed making and eating their own soup, following their November theme of Giving. In addition to reading and cooking Stone Soup, teachers have connected with the community and put together a nonperishable food drive. Discussions continued with children giving ideas and input of other ways we can work together to impact the people around us, and how we can give back to others. Sometimes we must all remind ourselves, in the words of Heather Forest, “Every bit counts, from the largest to the least.”

Did you know mealtime is not only about filling bellies, but also can provide valuable learning opportunities for children to grow and learn in several ways? As they explore with their senses, they are practicing fine motor skills, problem-solving, cause and effect, and so much more! Here at Open Space, we use mealtimes as an opportunity to converse between children and caregivers, building language development and creating healthy attachments all while enjoying something tasty together. By creating positive mealtime experiences, we can contribute to the overall development and well-being of all ages!

Our autumn festivities have been a spooktacular success! Last week, we had our annual Fall Fest, an Open Space community celebration of the season. We had a blast in our pumpkin patch, paraded down the street showing off our costumes, and ended the evening with exciting classroom parties. Just a few hours later, we were out and about for Andersonville’s Halloween on Catalpa! We were so lucky to have meaningful interactions with children of all ages in the community and build connections with Andersonville families and friends.

Have a safe and sweet Halloween!

Our Story

Open Space Early Learning Center is a family owned center founded in 2019 with a passion for providing high quality education and care for young children. The first five years of a child’s life are the most crucial in development and we strive to support every child through this time by giving them the tools and foundation that they need in order to thrive and be successful later in life.

At Open Space, we encourage development of the whole child by creating both a stimulating and nurturing environment. We not only provide hands-on materials but also engaging experiences that encourage children to learn through exploration, discovery, and play.

Our program is rooted in Piaget and Vygotsky’s belief that children learn best through self discovery and play while engaging with their peers and caregivers. We believe in providing a child-centered, play and discovery based curriculum. Play is important for children, it is a means by which they can be active explorers of their environment, active creators of new experiences, and active participants in their own development. At Open Space, our program is child-centered, play and discovery based because we believe that the benefits children gain from play help them develop the cognitive, social and emotional skills they need in order to grow and thrive.

We are so excited to join the neighborhood and get to know all of the families in the area. If you have any questions, concerns, comments or suggestions, please email us at [email protected]!
