Laker Spotlight: Natalie Erbes (BS Nursing, '20) started her job as a registered nurse in the middle of the pandemic.
"The biggest challenge is that you don’t want to infect anybody else," she says, "Especially if any of your family members are high risk.”
Her day starts at 5:45 a.m. with a self-assessment form to confirm she's symptom-free.
Masked up, she takes her temperature and begins her shift in the report room with a rundown on the shift before.
The coronavirus can be especially devastating for the patients Erbes sees, who are already dealing with cardiovascular problems.
Natalie says her BSN made her feel ready to jump in during the pandemic.
“There’s a couple of us working from my class and we all feel the same amount of preparedness,” Erbes said. “I think they really set us up for success.”
