Illinois State Representative and Chicago Board of Education Member congratulate the Catalyst Maria High School Class of 2024.

Parents and community members packed the Catalyst Maria auditorium last night to celebrate the 114 graduates in the Class of 2024! The ceremony included a special remembrance in loving memory of classmate Emoni Poelinitz. On hand to celebrate was Illinois State Representative Cyril Nichols (pictured below with faculty members Mark Lenz and Juan Luis Tafolla). Earlier in the day, Chicago Board of Education Member, Rudy Lozano, Jr. extended his congratulatory wishes to the graduates via a call with Catalyst staff members Julio Velez and Alex Ramirez.

“At the end of the day, we are human beings, and I hope that people can see that in me and in other people who are like me. Papers don’t determine how human you are.”

Yesenia's Humanity and Hunger for Education College was never part of Yesenia Garcia’s plan. But joining the OneGoal cohort in her school not only led to achieving a degree, she’s now an advocate for students like her.

Over the weekend a few of our recent graduates talked with Illinois Senate President, at the Kehrein Center for the Arts before Saturday's performance of Future Perfect!
