🌟Join SAIC Poetry Society🌟
SAIC Poetry Society aims to create a poetry community that is not only based on campus, but that also connects to the greater Chicago writing/poetry scene. The club is a combination of on campus meetings and off campus events. The on campus portion includes activities such as workshops, group reads, zine making, talks with faculty, and more. Off campus events focus on performance poetry, and include going to poetry events around Chicago such as spoken word nights, slam poetry, and artists’ talks.

Our first student group feature is XCB🌟
Xerox Candy Bar was initially founded in order to give students in the SAIC comics community a place to publish their work alongside other passionate student contributors. The publication has always been run by students, for students. ❤️
XCB is an important staple of the SAIC comics community and has been for years. Now, we are trying to expand the club beyond merely existing as a publication to also include events for club members to interact in, thus fostering community amongst those interested in comics at SAIC!
They do 2 issues each year and are taking submissions at [email protected] 🌟🌟

Thank you for taking the time to report on student group budgets and for interviewing us about the realities we've been navigating this year. We deeply appreciate the care and dedication your team continues to bring to your work, especially during a moment of major school wide budget shifts and staff layoffs. Your commitment to bring student voices towards and holding space for important conversations within your high quality journalism is seen and valued.
Remember fellow student fnews has their December issue out. We encourage everyone to read. You can find many articles such as shopping local, campus layoffs, student group budgets, and even vibrant poems and comics all made by SAIC students. Its amazing to see the strong talent within our community. Make sure to give it a read and support the artists and writers who make things like this possible.
I hope everyone is doing well during this time of year especially with finals and recent changes. Make sure to stay informed, take care of yourself, and dont hesitate to use our campus health resources.
