Law Professor Alberto R. Coll is offering this fall term to all DePaul undergraduates the following course: PSC 249:101 Topics in International Relations: The Constitution & American Foreign Policy MW 9:40-11:10, LPC. The course, which has been offered before, will be taught in the style of a regular law school course, with a heavy emphasis on the study and analysis of constitutional law cases that illuminate the conduct of foreign policy. Key issues will include the powers of the president, congress and the federal courts over foreign policy and war, immigration, sanctuary cities, the border wall, the handling of terrorist suspects, and individual liberties during wartime. The course serves as a valuable experience of what a regular law school course would look like.

The Killam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from universities in the United States to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada.

The Killam Fellowships Program provides a cash award of $5,000 US per semester ($10,000 for a full academic year), and includes a three day orientation in Ottawa, and a three day spring seminar in Washington. In addition, the Foundation provides all American Killam Fellows with an allowance of $250 CA to offset the cost of health insurance. All Killam Fellows are also eligible to apply for a mobility (in-country travel) grant in an amount not to exceed $800 Cdn. The idea of the mobility initiative is to allow students to undertake an educational field trip, providing the Fellows with the opportunity to gain a fuller understanding of the culture in Canada.

Consider applying for the Pickering Fellowship, which provides up to $37,500 annually for a two-year period for completion of a two-year master’s degree. PSC 229, Topics in American Politics: Organizing for Political & Social Justice
Mondays, 6:00-9:15 p.m., Lincoln Park Campus

This course provides an in-depth analysis of social change through collective action. It introduces students to community organizing principles and theories, and provides basic training in its practices. Students will apply what they learn in an experiential context, and will develop a practical and theoretical understanding of the challenges and constraints associated with collective action. Additionally, by carefully examining specific organizing campaigns and social movements, students will learn about alternative forms of organizing, and the critical role of community organizing in a democracy.
