Spring is slowly waking up our gardens 🌱✨

Our students and community members are already getting their hands in the soil, watching the first blooms arrive, and helping our spaces come back to life after winter. From tiny sprouts to bright flowers, this season always reminds us that growth takes patience, care, and community. 🌷🌼

We are thrilled to be just days away from our Annual Gala!

This year’s theme is “Rooted & Rising,” and we are doing just that by staying strong to the school garden work that has impacted our South & westside communities for over a decade.

This year, we will be honoring an amazing Community Leader, of the Obama Foundation, for his amazing work in our Southside communities.

Last year at we harvested 3,546 pounds of fresh produce 🌱, shared it through 25 free farmstands for over 590 neighbours, and hosted 11 healthy cooking workshops. We even made our own cookbook featuring seasonal recipes from the garden! 🍅🥕 From spring to fall, students joined us 3–4 times a week to learn, grow, and connect with the land.

We’re honored to announce our gala EMCEE: Jasmine Minor 🎤 She’s a 3x Emmy-winning journalist and one of Chicago’s most trusted storytellers — bringing truth, impact, and heart to every story she tells.
