Wanna learn some more about what students do in the Archaeological Field Methods Lab? Along with discussing some significant issues and topics affecting contemporary archaeology, during Friday labs, students from ANT 202 have been learning some of the basics of “doing archaeology”. Under the supervision of Dr. Sumner and her trusty TA, Roxanne Monaghan, students try out archaeological survey on campus, how to use a compass, recording in field environment, their finds of artifacts set up by Dr. Sumner and Roxanne, and how to create a report of their findings!
On September 28, 2024, DePaul Anthropology celebrated 'Openings: A Year of Visitation to Inez Briggs' at Graceland Cemetery. Dr. Jane Eva Baxter spoke about the project, which is part of a collaboration to uncover hidden narratives through exhibits and digital tours, supported by the Ga***rd and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation. The event was highlighted by Block Club, WBBM, WBEZ, & WCIU and featured insights from alumna Misha Mikami ('23), whose year-long work on the project gathered significant attention. Misha Mikami launched a blog where she will share her research every month (link to the blog: https://www.lambandangel.com/2024/09/30/offerings-presentation/ ) and Misha also gave a wonderful interview for block club. Congratulations to everyone involved!
