McCormick is delighted to welcome Paola Márquez Leones as the new Director of the CTU-MTS Writing Resource Center.

A PhD candidate in Religious Education at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and an ordained minister in the Colombian Methodist Church, Paola brings a deep commitment to scholarship, theological education, and supporting students as they develop their voices as writers and thinkers.

Their research explores the intersections of race, gender, religion, identity, and nationhood. We look forward to the leadership, insight, and care Paola will bring to students across the McCormick and CTU communities.

This fall, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Efraín Agosto to the McCormick faculty as Visiting Professor of New Testament & Latinx Studies.

A distinguished biblical scholar, author, and theological educator, Dr. Agosto brings decades of experience exploring the New Testament alongside Latinx theology, culture, migration, and ministry.

His presence will offer our students new opportunities to encounter scripture through scholarship shaped by culture, context, and the rich perspectives of Latinx communities.

For many in the McCormick community, Rev. Dr. Reginald W. Williams, Jr. needs little introduction. A familiar and respected presence at McCormick, we’re thrilled to officially welcome him to our faculty this fall as Visiting Professor of Preaching and Worship. Dr. Williams will also be leading our weekly worship services.

Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of University Park, Dr. Williams is a Chicago-born pastor, scholar, author, and community leader whose ministry is deeply rooted in prophetic preaching, liberation theology, and social justice.

He brings to the classroom not only deep scholarship, but years of experience equipping communities and leaders to connect faith with the realities of the world around them.

We’re grateful to have Dr. Williams continuing his journey with McCormick in this new role—and excited for all that our students will learn alongside him.

TRAUMA DOESN’T HAVE THE LAST WORD.

This October, McCormick Theological Seminary invites Chicago into a different kind of conversation—one rooted in healing, truth-telling, and the possibility of communal flourishing.

HEALING FORWARD is an intimate public gathering exploring what becomes possible when we understand healing not simply as an individual journey, but as something we practice together.

We’re honored to welcome Cole Arthur Riley, New York Times bestselling author, poet, and spiritual teacher, in conversation with Rev. Dr. Stephanie M. Crumpton.

Through her acclaimed books This Here Flesh and Black Liturgies, Cole has invited readers to embrace a spirituality grounded in dignity, embodied faith, and the healing of the stories we inherit. Her work reminds us that trauma may be part of the human story—but it does not have to determine how the story ends.

Together, we’ll explore a question that feels especially urgent for our time: What becomes possible when healing is something we practice together?

McCormick Theological Seminary is honored to bring together pastors, scholars, organizers, advocates, and community leaders for two days of learning, dialogue, and faithful action.

As immigrant communities continue to navigate uncertainty and heightened enforcement, this gathering invites us to consider what it means to respond with courage, compassion, solidarity, and public witness.

Together, we'll explore how churches and faith leaders can move beyond conviction to meaningful action—learning from those who accompany immigrant communities every day and imagining new ways to embody welcome, justice, and hope.

Our Black Church Studies program invites students to explore the rich theological, historical, and cultural traditions of the Black Church and to imagine where those traditions can take us next.

Through rigorous theological education grounded in lived experience, students engage questions of faith, justice, leadership, and the ongoing work of liberation.

There’s something special about the start of a new academic year. New faces. New questions. New possibilities. And a community coming back together ready to learn, grow, and be transformed.

At McCormick Theological Seminary, Fall courses begin in just a few weeks—and we can already feel the energy.

Soon, classrooms will fill with conversation. Students will reconnect with faculty and one another. New members of our community will walk through our doors or connect online for the first time. And together, we’ll begin another year of theological learning and formation rooted in faith, justice, curiosity, and hope.

A new year is almost here. Let’s see what becomes possible.



Hay algo muy especial en el inicio de un nuevo año académico. Nuevas caras. Nuevas preguntas. Nuevas posibilidades. Y una comunidad que se reúne nuevamente lista para aprender, crecer y ser transformada.
