Our Tea & Pipes concert series resumes on Tuesday, October 1 at 4 PM with a special Pets and Pipes performance! Bring your pet to Rockefeller Chapel and enjoy a program performed for you and your pets by University Organist Thomas Weisflog on the majestic E.M. Skinner organ! Tea and treats (human and animal) will be provided. Tea served from 3:45 pm, the music begins at 4 pm.

This is the first concert of the Tea and Pipes ongoing weekly concert series for the Autumn Quarter. The series is on Tuesdays from October 1 to November 26.

During his 15-year career, Ambrose Akinmusire has paradoxically situated himself both in the center of and at the periphery of jazz and has been emerging most recently in both classical and hip-hop circles. He’s on a perpetual quest for new paradigms, masterfully weaving inspiration from other genres and arts, and from life in general, into compositions that are as poetic and graceful as they are bold and unflinching. His unorthodox approaches to sound and composition make him a regular on critics’ polls and have earned him grants and commissions from the Doris Duke Foundation, the MAP Fund, the Kennedy Center, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, the Berlin Jazz Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

The series starts this Sunday, June 23, with a performance by Carson Landry. Carson is the carillonist of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church in Michigan. His program includes repertoire by Dawn Ieriho:kwats Avery, Jen Wang, Julie Zhu, and Adèle Colson.

Rockefeller Chapel Visitor Hours for the summer are Tuesdays - Fridays from 11 AM - 5 PM through August 16.

Today at 5 pm, the seniors from the University of Chicago Guild of Carillonists perform some of their favorite carillon pieces. Bring a blanket or chair to enjoy this concert from the east lawn of Rockefeller Chapel. The Chapel will also be open for indoor viewing.
