Weβd love to introduce our wonderful family of the month, the Lilley family! We have had the joy of teaching all three of the Lilley kiddos over the past 6 years, and it is such a blast to have them in class! They are all so sweet, playful and curious, and we also adore their amazing parents and nanny. We are so grateful to have them in our musical family and canβt wait to see how they will continue to grow in the coming months and years!
Give these sweeties a double tap! ππ₯°

One of our Playful Pianists classes is working on building rhythms together, and then playing them together on the piano! We build 4 beat rhythms using quarter notes, eighth notes and quarter rests and then each child finds a C note on the keyboard, and then we all play the rhythm in unison. They are doing beautifully keeping a steady beat and listening so that they stay together! We are so proud of these mini musicians.β€οΈπΉ

We have been having a blast pretending that our scarves are birds flying all around the classroom this week! Scarves are the perfect prop for exploring different musical concepts like fast and slow, smooth and bumpy or high and low, like our pretend birds! When we heard music that had high sounds we flew our birds up above our heads, and as the music changed to low sounds, we hopped our birds down low on the ground to find worms. This multi-sensory play is the BEST way to help kiddos internalize new information. π¦ββ¬π¦π¦π΅

Musicians need to warm up just like athletes do! And warming up is just as important for the muscles you use to play your instrument as it is for getting your mind focused. In your warmups youβll want to focus on improving your hand/mouth/body position while you play or sing and warming up the muscles needed slowly and methodically. You will also want to use technical exercises to help you increase your agility and precision. Our teachers help each of their students create their own unique warm up routine that will help them hone their technique and get them ready to dive into the music they love most.π΅

Kindermusik class is the perfect place for children to meet others their own age and practice their social skills! We like to say that music class is about so much more than learning music- it's about learning to be a person! We work and move together in group dances, we practice turn taking with different instruments, we raise our voices together in song, and play side by side. This process isn't always perfectly smooth- sometimes little friends need support as they navigate conflicts. We as teachers and caregivers step in and model for them how to be kind and treat others well while also validating children's feelings. What a joy it is to see tiny friendships emerge in our little corner of the world.ππ΅
