The OFFICIAL page for Northeastern Illinois University Honors Program Scholarship applications are due July 15 for fall-spring awards.

Uniquely flexible for students in all fields of study and at almost every stage of degree progress, the University Honors Program (UHP) is open to eligible undergraduates who have at least a 3.5 GPA and a minimum of three academic terms left before graduating from NEIU. UHP students enjoy:

• priority registration
• small classes taught by our finest faculty
• personalized academic advising

Scrolling on IG but not applying to our scholarship? Our annual Merit Tuition Scholarship deadline is coming up on July 15th. Don't miss out on tuition money! 📚

Scholarships are awarded to cover from 3 to 24 credit hours for the academic year at the in-state tuition rate. UHP students in good academic standing in the program and progressing in UHP coursework are eligible to apply for a UHP Merit Tuition Scholarship.

Our upcoming merit tuition scholarship (MTS), is now open for applicants! The MTS is applicable for the fall 2025-2026 academic year. To qualify you must be admitted in the program and be in good academic standing with the UHP, have a minimum of a cumulative 3.5 GPA, and must progress in their UHP advising plan during the term of the award while enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester. 📚💙

Purpose of scholarship:

The purpose of this scholarship is to support doctoral study for alumni who have received either bachelor's or master’s degrees from Northeastern Illinois University who meet the specified criteria as stipulated by the donor, Dr. Bernard J. Brommel.

Scholarship Criteria:

Must have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree from NEIU.

Must be a first or second-year student admitted to and enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours in a doctorate of philosophy program (PhD).

Programs should be accredited by the North Central Association or an equivalent PhD accrediting agency.

Students enrolled in online programs via for-profit institutions or non-residential degree programs are not eligible to apply; If an applicant is enrolled in a joint master’s and doctoral program, the applicant must have completed 32 credit hours of graduate work beyond their bachelor’s degree.

A strong research background, published articles and/or papers presented at state or regional conferences are highly desirable.

Purpose of scholarship: The purpose of this fund is to identify a student that best exemplifies excellence within the College of Arts and Sciences through demonstrated academic achievement, potential for future success, and community leadership, excelling despite having faced challenging circumstances. The scholarship can cover tuition, fees, and books.

Scholarship Criteria: Junior student (90 or more credits) entering his or her senior year at NEIU; Declared major in at least one discipline within the College of Arts and Sciences; Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale; A strong research background, published articles and/or papers presented at state or regional conferences are highly desirable.

The 32nd John S. Albazi Student Research & Creative Activities Symposium will be hosted tomorrow, Friday, May 2nd, 2025! We welcome you to attend the annual symposium for an interactive scholastic event that allows undergraduate and graduate students to interact with each other and present their work to peers and faculty.

As a reminder, this event is open to all NEIU students and welcomes them to support their colleagues. UHP students are giving over a dozen presentations at this event in all disciplines.

Last Saturday, students from the Honors Living-Learning Community took in a Broadway show!🎭 The group stopped for a photo at the iconic Picasso sculpture in Daley Plaza. After dinner at the Randolph Tavern, the group saw Moulin Rouge at the Cadillac Palace Theater. What a fun night out in downtown Chicago!🏙
