Congratulations to our OSM Science Olympiad Team!

They competed against 8 other teams.

They won 3 of the 8 events: rollercoaster, helicopter drop, and potions/poisons.

They got 2nd in Tower building, 3rd in simple machines, and 4th in science scrabble as well.

We had the honor in welcoming WT Johnson, Historian and grandpa to Kerrington and Nicholas Cook.

He visited students as Father Augustus Tolton.

Augustus Tolton is a pioneer African American Catholic, who was not only the first priest of acknowledged African descent to serve anywhere in the United States, but one who navigated the choppy waters of racial acceptance in 19th century America.

He modeled for us how to be Christians, amidst the social inconsistencies of that former time, with his faith, hope, and love.

The Barb Smith Award honors those members of the Old St Mary’s community who go above and beyond in their commitment to the community, exemplifying the spirit of Barb Smith, the School's founding principal. Barb Smith’s dedication and spirit led to the incredibly special community that we share and are blessed to have. The award honors and celebrates her legacy. Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working closely with this person. He is the father of two little Knights in third and fifth grade, the partner of a physician who focuses on geriatric patient care with passion and loads of energy, a professor of finance at Roosevelt University, and the newly appointed Examination Director for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority also known as FINRA. When he is not chauffeuring his daughters to and from school, dropping them off to dance or to the neighborhood Dojo among other places and spaces, this girl-Dad found time to chair our signature event last year. Oh, did I mention that Michael serves on the school advisory board. It has been a pleasure to observe the projects that this gentleman has taken on with heart, courage, and intellect. It is my honor and pleasure to award this year’s Barb Smith Award to Michael Andrews.
