🇺🇸 On Friday, OLMCA students took part in one of our favorite school traditions: Student Council elections!

We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped forward to run for office. Our candidates brought thoughtful ideas, creative campaigns, and some of the best speeches in recent memory, all rooted in a shared pride in OLMCA and a desire to make our school an even better place.

This year, Election Day ended with something new: the inauguration of our Student Council, led by Student Director of Catholic Identity, Evan B. As Lucas and Gabriel took their oath, they placed their hands on a very special piece of OLMCA history: the yearbook from their first year here as preschoolers.

It was a small but meaningful reminder of what makes OLMCA special. Our students grow up surrounded by traditions, memories, and a community they are proud to call their own. Then, one day, it becomes their turn to lead it.

Our middle school students are already enjoying our annual overnight trip in the great outdoors, taking in the beautiful scenery, riding horses, hiking the trails, and learning more about the local wildlife and the environment. 🕊️ This morning, the OLMCA community gathered for a beautiful and solemn prayer service marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Our students led the school in prayer, song, and reflection as we remembered the 2,977 lives lost that day and honored the countless acts of courage, sacrifice, unity, and love that emerged from such darkness.

Students also learned about Fr. Mychal Judge, OFM, chaplain to the New York City Fire Department, who ministered to firefighters and victims at the World Trade Center and lost his own life while serving others. We reflected on the simple prayer that guided his ministry:

Lord, take me where You want me to go.
Let me meet who You want me to meet.
Tell me what You want me to say,
and keep me out of Your way.

Following Pope Leo XIV’s call to be messengers of peace and builders of bridges, we reflected on how each of us can bring light into our world through kindness, unity, service, and peace.

Before the service, students placed 2,977 American flags across the church lawn, each standing in silent and sacred memory of a life lost on September 11, 2001.

🕊️ On Tuesday, September 1, the OLMCA community gathered for our first All School Mass of the year, the Mass of the Holy Spirit. At this first Mass, we pray in a special way for God to bless, guide, and inspire our students, faculty, staff, and families as we begin this new year together! It was so good to gather together as we open the new year in joy and faith.

Mass concluded with a shower of rose petals, drawing inspiration from a tradition at the Pantheon in Rome, where rose petals are dropped from the central oculus on Pentecost, representing the “tongues of fire” of the Holy Spirit descending upon the Apostles. ❤️‍🔥

♥️ SO good to have our OLMCA family back on Belmont!

Our hearts are full after a beautiful Back to School Sunday Mass & Ice Cream Social! It was the perfect August evening to gather as a school family, enjoy some frozen treats, and celebrate the start of a new school year on our beautiful campus.

We loved seeing so many familiar faces, welcoming new families for the first time, and having our grown-up graduates back to visit. There’s something truly special about having everyone together again!

Here’s to an incredible new school year! We can’t wait to see all that’s ahead.
