Academic Showcase 2026 was a wonderful evening of learning, discovery, and Wildcat pride! ๐๐งฎโ๐โ๏ธโ๐ป๐ฌ Our Pre-K4 through 5th grade students and their families enjoyed an exciting night of interactive math games that brought our Math Curriculum to life in fun and meaningful ways. Families also had the opportunity to experience hands-on presentations from our award-winning Middle School Science Olympiad Team, led by our incredible students and parent coaches. To top off the evening, guests learned more about our impressive Middle School History Day projects, which will compete in the State Finals next week! Follow along to see how our Wildcats do! ๐๐ช๐ผ

Weโre back from break! Hereโs one final and super fun post from your favorite first graders. Come one, come all to our First Grade Shadow Puppet Show! ๐ญโจ
In small groups, we read a special story that had a lot of our Word Wall Words in it. We talked about the characters and made a list of props we needed. I liked being a detective to find character traits and practice using our expressive reading voices!
In science, we learned how shadows are made. We spent time testing opaque, translucent, transparent and reflective materials. Then we used what we learned to make our own detailed shadow puppets and performed our show for the class.
I loved using reading and science to make my puppet come to life! ๐

The First Grade takeover continues! Lions, sleepovers, and research, oh my! ๐ฆโจ
In First Grade, we have a really cool class pet, A LION! Our class adopted an African lion from the Lincoln Park Zoo and welcomed a special stuffed lion into our classroom. Each week, a new friend takes our lion home for a sleepover and returns ready to share their adventures during Morning Meeting.
At school, we wanted to learn even more about lions. We read nonfiction books and used text features to find facts. My friends and I worked hard to write our own โAll About Lionsโ papers and learned how to put our ideas into a paragraph.
First Grade is awesome because we get to learn, write, and share fun adventures together!
Our teachers are on Spring Break so OLMCA First Graders are taking over Instagram! We have a lot to say about why you should come to school with us next year!
