CTK’s 16th Annual RISE UP fundraiser, hosted by our Auxiliary Board, is in 2 weeks on Thursday, September 17th from 6 to 9pm. Join us at Pilot Project Brewing in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood for a fun night featuring a variety of craft beers, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, plus tasty sandwiches and appetizers from their scratch kitchen. The event will also feature several exclusive raffle prizes like Hawks tickets, restaurant gift cards, and custom artwork.

RISE UP proceeds will help to support CTK’s college counseling and alumni support programs. Our Class of 2026 was the 15th consecutive graduating class to achieve 100% college acceptance.

After last school year’s successful Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program introduction, the CTK Corporate Work Study CNA program has expanded to include ten students from the Class of 2028. The new class of CNA candidates includes Abrielle ’28, Anijah ’28, Ariyah ’28, Brooklyn ’28, Charielle ’28, Harmoni ’28, Kylee ’28, Raven ’28, Shalom ’28, and Takarah ’28.

Yesterday was their first day of Wednesday classes at Valparaiso University’s downtown Chicago campus. They officially began their 120-hour journey of instruction, labs, and clinicals required in their pursuit of CNA certification! Best of luck to the 10 students!

The first all-class CTK alumni reunion last Saturday was a great success! Over 150 Gladiator alums from the 2012 – 2024 graduating classes returned to CTK for the event. It was a fun afternoon spent catching up with classmates and CTK staff members while enjoying tasty BBQ food and cold drinks. It was great to see and hear the latest from our returning Gladiators. Once a Gladiator, always a Gladiator! Come back again soon.

Congratulations to CTK's Girls’ Volleyball and Boys’ Football teams for winning their first games of the new fall season! Lady Gladiators’ Volleyball won their game last Tuesday against Wolcott and the Gladiators Football squad beat Aurora Central Catholic on Saturday, 34-14!

The Girls’ Volleyball team will be back in action today/Monday and tomorrow/Tuesday, both at CTK. Our Girls’ Flag Football team also has games scheduled today and tomorrow. Up next for the Gladiator football team is a trip to Kankakee on Friday night to take on Bishop McNamara. Come out to support our student-athletes! Go Gladiators!

CTK’s peer ministers were among the attendees at Saturday’s sunrise Mass at Oakwood Beach in Chicago. The 16th annual service was hosted by the Black Catholic Deacons of Chicago in support of community nonviolence and peace. CTK’s campus ministry team leaders Mrs. Cheryl Cattledge, Fr. Jack McLinden, SJ, and Mr. Victor Smith accompanied our students.

We welcomed 423 new and returning Gladiator students for the first day of school today. It is the start of CTK’s 19th year serving families on Chicago’s West Side. Our students were excited to reconnect with their classmates and teachers, Our teachers begin the school year ready to challenge and inspire our students.

At 4:30pm today, the Gladiator Varsity Football team will kick off its season against Von Steuben at 5039 N. Kimball Ave,, Chicago. The Flag Football and Girls’ Volleyball teams will play their first games next week. Come out to support our student-athletes. Go Gladiators!

CTK’s teachers returned from their summer break yesterday to begin preparing for the upcoming school year - our 19th. On their first day back, all of our faculty & staff members engaged in community building, prayer, and service.

As part of our annual day of service, the CTK volunteers were split between three church service sites. The assigned groups focused on cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and polishing three venerable churches on Chicago’s West Side - St. Martin de Porres Catholic church, part of the St. Simon of Cyrene parish, the New Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist church, and Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica.

The day of community building also included a Mass at CTK and a welcome lunch for all new and returning teachers & staff members. It was a great way to kick off the 26-27 school year!

Eight CTK Students recently travelled to West Virginia to participate in a summer service immersion experience at Nazareth Farm. Participants committed to a week of prayer, simplicity, community, and service. Thank you to the 8 rising seniors, Alona, Evan, James, Ja’Ron, Sariya, Sheridan, Taniyla, and Tennelle, as well as CTK chaperones Mrs. Cheryl Cattledge and Fr. Jack McLinden, S.J. for dedicating part of their summer break to helping others!

Today is the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus – the Jesuits. At Christ the King Jesuit College Prep it is our mission to follow the lead of St. Ignatius in guiding our students to become men and women for others, and in caring for the whole person, mind, body, and soul (cura personalis).

As our students do as part of their daily Examen during the school year, we ask St. Ignatius to pray for us and help us to go out and set the world on fire!
