The 2025-2026 School Year was one to remember! ❤️🖤💚
The Illinois State Board of Education (Illinois State Board of Education) recognized both of our campuses with “ Commendable Campus Designations “ which is a reflection of the hard work, love, and commitment of watoto, educators, families, and village 🎉. Most importantly, it’s an acknowledgment of our scholars who are performing at or above state expectations !
We closed our the school year by celebrating 4 incredible milestones as our kindergarten and 8th grade scholars from each of our campuses crossed the stage to Move On and Move Forward.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. Your village is PROUD!

Support the Shangalia Cheerleading Cheerleaders this Friday, July 17th for their annual car wash fundraiser!!!
The cheerleaders will be washing cars for $3 and trucks for $5 from 1:30-4:30PM inside of BSICS Barbara A. Sizemore Academy parking lot.

In the words of Mama Kelly, “The Betty Shabazz Academy First Roboticd Expo is in the books and it was electric!” ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Our watoto in the Namna (3rd grade) and Sankofa (6th grade) proudly showcased what they’ve been learning in STEM, demonstrating how to control and program 3 different robots.
Guests in attendance not only got a chance to peep the robots in action, but many also learned how to operate directly from our young scholars.
The expo gave our watoto an opportunity to put their learning on display , share their knowledge with our school village, and celebrate all they’ve learned and accomplished. It don’t get no better than that!

Our first ever Robotics Expo at the Shabazz Campus will be tomorrow Wednesday, May 27th with Mama Kelly , our Namna (3rd Grade) and Sankofa (6th Grade) classes!
Join us from 8:20 - 10:00am to see what these scholars have learned about robotics 🤖✨💡✨⚙️✨
