“I can honestly say that, without the Graham School, “Zoom” would not have seen the light of day,” writes Master of Liberal Arts alum and Writer’s Studio student Mary Ellen Swee of her poem, “Apologia for Zoom,” which was recently published in Midwest Quarterly’s Summer Poetry Edition (volume 63, number 4).

Swee, inspired by a summer 2021 MLA course, in which Professor William Veeder was “hunkered down in Italy, with students scattered around the U.S.," later drafted the poem in Instructor Delia Pless’s prose poetry course. Please join us in congratulating Swee (whose work can also be found in the Winter/Spring 2022 edition of the Notre Dame Review, issue 53) and reading her incredible poetry at https://bit.ly/3fcUCdm.
