STRIVE (Student to Resident Institutional Vehicle for Excellence) is a resident-led initiative to support URM students in academic medicine. It focuses on near-peer mentoring and support that includes curriculum review, clinical preparation, career panels, networking events, and more!
We are so proud of two of our PGY-3s (along with Dr. Sarah Andebrhan of .obgyn) for acting as co-presidents over this past academic year!

We are THRILLED to welcome Dr. Italo Brown, MD MPH as our next grand rounds speaker tomorrow!
Dr. Brown is currently an assistant professor at Stanford Health Care and Heath Equity & Social Justice Curriculum Thread Lead at Stanford University SOM. Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has championed issues surrounding social medicine and health equity. Not only is he the Chief Impact Officer of T.R.A.P. Medicine, a barbershop-based wellness initiative, but he was named among the 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health in 2017, and was recently selected to join the Health Equity Leaders Roundtable, a White House initiative, among many other accomplishments. We are so excited to learn from him!

Meet Brew! This next pet of NUEM is too cute for just one pic, so we all get a treat. Brew is the covid pup of intern - his favorite food is pizza, is the biggest gentle giant, is possibly scared of his shadow, and LOVES his peanut butter filled Kong!
