LET'S GO!

Enrollment is underway for Miller's Learning Center's inaugural Black Boy Book Club, and our new start date is September 19th! This isn't simply a group of Black boys reading books. It's Black boys building brotherhood, discovering their voices as writers, and learning to think critically about themselves, their communities, and the world around them. Along the way, they'll even have honest conversations about accountability and building healthy relationships with Black girls and women.

Our boys will be mentored by award-winning Black male educators, writers, and scholars Chris Slaughter and Dr. Jelani Ince. Participants will read powerful literature, strengthen their writing, engage with Black sociological perspectives, and develop into thoughtful readers, confident communicators, and future leaders.

If you've been looking for a program that pours into Black boys academically, intellectually, and personally, this is it! Payment plans are available because I want this opportunity to be accessible to families. URGENT: Tutors Needed (Chicago's West Side)

Miller's Learning Center is hiring 2–3 tutors immediately for a new after-school program in partnership with Southside Center of Hope.
The funding is secured—we're simply looking for the right tutors to join our team.

We'll be serving children at Independence House in North Lawndale by providing academic support, encouragement, and consistency.
Pay: $45/hour

Start Date: October 1 (training begins immediately)
We're looking for tutors who:
Can teach 1st–8th grade reading, math, and English
Have reliable transportation to North Lawndale
Have a genuine heart for working with children
Experience with the PreACT 8/9 or GED is a plus and may lead to additional opportunities beginning in late September.

This is a great opportunity for college students or any educator looking to earn extra income while making a meaningful impact. Tutors typically work 2-hour shifts, 2–3 days per week, with opportunities for additional virtual tutoring through Miller's Learning Center.

I woke up in the middle of the night to this wonderful message. A student I had for only 2 sessions of English ACT tutoring went from a 26 to a 31. Let's go!!!

If you're looking to sign your child up for the summer July 11th ACT exam, look no more for test prep. Classes start next week. Classes often have 3 to 10 students enrolled. June 19th (Juneteenth), there will be no reading and English classes. Classes now cost $60/hr with discounts for early registration. Sign up today!

I have been a bit delayed with posting my Miller’s Learning Center successes, but the business is still in motion, and I was very pleased to see these ACT results from my student Phin for the April test. I worked with him on reading and English and my awesome tutor Kimmy worked with him on math and science. His biggest growths were in English and math. He originally had a 27 in English and a 29 in math. Woot! Woot!!! I hope to continue to refine the tutoring approach and help students take their lessons beyond the test.
