Whether you can volunteer 1 day, 1 hour, or even 1 minute of your time, Dunbar High School needs you!
Our students and staff need the support of the alumni. This is our opportunity to give back, show up, share our time, talents, and experiences, and continue to make a difference at the school we call home.
If you are interested in volunteering during the 2026–2027 school year, please complete the volunteer application through the school’s portal. Once your application is submitted, it must also be approved by the school administration.
Every volunteer matters. And together, WE can support our school and our students!

Volunteer activities offer parents and community members opportunities to engage with their local schools and support student learning. These experiences are mutually rewarding to students, parents, partners, and schools.

💙💛 Final Push! Let's Save Our Beloved Dunbar! 💪🏽
We currently have about 1,700 signatures, but we need your help to keep the momentum going. Every signature matters and brings us one step closer to preserving Dunbar's legacy.
If you haven't signed yet, please take a moment it costs nothing but can make a lasting difference. Then, please share the petition with your family, friends, classmates, and fellow alumni.

Designate Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Career Academy as a Chicago landmark

Thank you all who signed up!
Principal McMillan has decided to pause this initiative. Last week the room for the parent center was cleared and cleaned, an office room cleared, and two closets for the art room was cleaned and cleared. Once the records, electronics, and books are retrieved by the school district we will reconvene.
