That’s a wrap on a very special 60th anniversary program year.
This year, students across grew through curriculum designed to meet them where they are and help them move forward in reading, math, and foundational literacy skills.
Post-assessments helped us measure that growth, but the real impact showed up week after week: in confidence, persistence, problem solving, and the relationships at the heart of our program.
Here’s to 60 years of showing up for students, and to all the growth still ahead!

As we celebrate the final week of tutoring and another successful year, pairs spent time reflecting and sharing their summer goals and plans. ☀️
From vacations and summer activities to personal goals and skills they hope to learn, it was a meaningful way to measure the growth, connection, and memories built throughout this special 60th anniversary program year.
to everyone who made this year so impactful! 🙏

Huge smiles, arms wrapped tight, and the kind of joy that only comes from a real connection. This photo captures what so many tutoring sessions are really about. Trust, comfort, and a student who feels safe enough to be fully herself.
Ava and Eva remind us that relationships are the heart of this work. Learning happens because students feel supported, celebrated, and genuinely cared for. We could not imagine a better final Pair of the Week to close out an incredible year!

In this week’s agenda, tutors and students worked together to create summertime fitness goals!
Physical fitness helps keep your body strong, improves focus and learning, boosts energy, and supports overall mental health. We loved seeing students think about healthy habits and set goals they can feel proud of this summer!
When Scott and Naty first met through Tutoring Chicago, Naty was a sophomore in high school struggling to find confidence. As a former educator, Scott knew that tutoring Naty was about more than just teaching writing and math. 📚
With Scott’s encouragement, Naty’s grades improved and she was added to the AP track at her high school, but the real change was in her confidence and a positive mindset that extended beyond academics. Today, Naty is graduating high school with plans to become a nurse. She was admitted to all her universities of choice, with full ride scholarships to UIC and Saint Xavier. Watch her story below!🌟🌟

At the end of April, Tutoring Chicago hosted its second of the program year!
Tutors gathered to discuss The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows and reflected on how reading can offer both a meaningful escape and a powerful way to learn and connect with others.
Sending a big thank you to everyone who joined us for one or both book clubs this year. We loved seeing tutors build community and engage in thoughtful conversation!
