It began as School #2 and became William Jones Elementary School in 1858 when all schools were given names. Jones College Prep, formerly Jones Metropolitan High School of Business and Commerce, and Jones Commercial High School, and Jones Academic Magnet, came into existence in February, 1938. The building, built shortly after the Chicago fire, was located at Harrison Street and Plymouth Court. The

Hi FB FamilyI

As my doctoral project comes to an end, it will culminate with the Breast Cancer Symposium. I recently received a candidacy for graduation from the Doctoral Program—Leadership For Social Transformation in May 2025. To God Be The Glory!!!

My research project study will culminate with The Breast Cancer Symposium 2024. Please share with your constituents and youth in your circle, as this will be a dynamic event with a wealth of information for the community. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Kirti K. from UChicago Medicine - Breast Cancer Radiologist/Oncologist, who will speak about early detection, preventative care to wholeness, clinical trials, and access to resources. In addition, there will be a panel of highly skilled medical professionals in this area. You don’t want to miss it!

I am attaching a copy of the flyer circulating in the community. If you can distribute it and promote it on your website and where you see fit, that would be most appreciated. As part of the Breast Cancer Research Project Study, we hosted a Breast Cancer Support Group that met for six weeks on Thursday. It was so informative and helpful that the group has requested Covenant UCC to continue the Support Group and add it to one of its Ministries. We are grateful.

Media assisted me in preparing a video that could be posted on social media. The video provides the research project and symposium deliverables and clarity of context for CUCC, Not-For-Profit Arm—BWS Family Life Center and the neighboring communities on what is transforming in our community.

Thank you in advance for considering attending, spreading the word, and supporting the cause.

Greetings FB Family,

I’m on the last part of my Doctoral Program at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois. It has truly been a good journey with my Cohorts with a focus in - Leadership For Social Transformation (LFST). My research project study is ways in which we can minimize the gap of the healthcare disparity of African American women with breast cancer. I’m grateful for Covenant United Church of Christ and it’s not for profit arm - BWS Family Life Center for all their support and love during this journey.

Let me share a video link below that captures the support group aspect of the research a few flyers used in community. Please watch out for additional media that will entail the Breast Cancer Symposium scheduled October 12, 2024 at Covenant. I look forward to seeing you there! One of things I learned in the research is that men are subject to breast cancer as well. More to share later soon.

Dear Jonesites,

I hope you are doing well! Many have inquired about the Jones All-Class Reunion 2023 - Picnic. Our initial contact for this event was via Tara McNeal Covington. This year would be the first year the Class of 1981 has participated. Listed below are some details regarding this year's event:

- If you plan to attend the All Class Reunion Picnic on August 19th, you can arrive at 8:30 a.m. to set up your class space. Tents, banners, and tables are fine to bring.

- It is recommended that everyone bring a chair. Bluetooth speakers are welcome.

- The Shelter area will be used as a common meeting space.

- The reunion will have games and prizes, including a Birthday Board.

- There will be a Balloon release at 1:00 p.m. for all Jonesites who have transitioned. Each class is asked to bring 3 balloons for the release.

I've included here your current announcements for that event. Please govern yourselves accordingly. Have a great time, Jonesites!!
