Leo High School was honored to welcome two distinguished leaders from National Louis University to campus yesterday: Eddie Phillips, Ed.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Thackston Lundy, Vice President of Workforce Pathways.

Their afternoon at Leo was filled with meaningful conversation, connection, and a shared commitment to creating greater opportunities for our students and the community we serve. Our wonderful Alderman from the 17th Ward, David Moore Together, we explored ways Leo High School and National Louis University can strengthen our partnership, collaborate on future initiatives, and develop pathways that support our young men beyond high school.

The manager of LGC, Kendall Straughter also stopped by. Dr. Shaka Rawls personally welcomed our guests and took them on a tour of Leo High School, where they had an opportunity to visit classrooms, engage with our students, and experience firsthand the energy, excellence, and brotherhood that make Leo so special.

And, of course, no great Chicago visit is complete without some great food! We ended the afternoon enjoying a delicious meal from Jerk Villa and continuing the conversation around the exciting possibilities ahead.

Thank you, Dr. Eddie Phillips and Thackston Lundy, for investing your time, ideas, and energy in our students. We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with National Louis University.

When education, community, and opportunity come together, our students win.

The future is bright at Leo High School!🧡🖤

The Leo High School Choir delivered an outstanding performance at St. Sabina’s Peace in the Streets Back-to-School Festival, sponsored by Witherite Law Group and WGCI!

This marked the boys’ first performance since returning to school on August 13, and they certainly made us proud. A special shout-out to our six new choir members, who took the stage alongside our talented returning members and performed with confidence and excellence!

We also proudly recognize our new Choir Co-Directors, Darious Lyles and Nathan Palmer, who recently stepped into their leadership roles. We look forward to watching you continue building upon the choir’s incredible legacy, helping our young men climb higher, grow stronger, and reach even greater levels of excellence.

Congratulations, Leo Choir! The best is yet to come! 🧡🖤

Leo High School proudly recognizes 15-year-old Royce Holmes, who was featured on the front cover of the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday, August 15!

Royce is one of 3,000 Chicago teens who received a free summer YMCA membership. He can often be found there hooping—and his enthusiasm has inspired other teens to get involved, stay active, and connect with their community.

Way to represent, Royce! Keep leading by example and making a difference.

More than a thousand teens signed up at the South Side YMCA alone. Teens there are playing basketball, lifting weights or just hanging out with friends — and hoping the program continues next year.
