University of Chicago Secular Student Alliance The SSA is the only RSO to support secular, freethinking, atheist, or otherwise skeptical members of UChicago.

We promote science and logic, the separation of church and state, tolerance of groups different from our own, and a strong secular community. Per our Constitution, the purposes of the organization shall be to:

• Promote and practice the open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it,
• And that ethics and morality can be meaningfully based on rational and humanisti

c ideals and values,
• Promote skeptical inquiry,
• Provide community for atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, naturalists and other freethinkers,
• Organize activities, such as forums for discussion, guest speakers, and debates that educate the people of the University of Chicago and surrounding community,
• Foster acceptance of freethinkers, and
• Advocate for the separation between church and state.
