We strongly believe in clearly communicating our expectations to our scholars. That is why we hold a weekly Assembly every Wednesday. This time provides an opportunity for us to reflect on how things are going, celebrate areas of success, and openly address concerns or areas that need improvement.

As Dr. Plaxico often reminds us, “We must inspect what we expect!” Our weekly Assemblies help ensure that we are consistently communicating, modeling, and reinforcing the expectations that lead to student success.

Today, students in our Life Skills class worked in cooperative groups as we began teaching and modeling our expectations for learning in the classroom. Active listening, effective communication and the ability to work cooperatively with others are essential skills that students will use both in and beyond the classroom. Learning how to listen, communicate, contribute, and work together is an important part of preparing our students for success in life.

The staff ended our week of PD with an outing to the Game Room in Lombard! We had so much fun bonding, relating and getting ready to welcome our scholars on Monday!
