I shared my experience working with troubled youth throughout my career and how once the students know that you believe in them it helps them to believe in themselves!
“We all need someone who believes in us!” 💪🏽💯❤️

In my first principal job I was in charge of implementing restorative justice and training my teachers and staff. Leading this session on restorative practices at the Innovative Schools Summit today felt so natural and reminded of that.

I reminded the teachers and administrators that, “When it comes to working with a student who may have disrespectful behavior, that we have to get rid of the behavior, but that doesn’t mean getting rid of the child! We can’t throw out the baby with the bath water!”

Spoke at Homewood School District 153 on how to build relationship with students of trauma. I told them, “Yes, it’s challenging. But don’t let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do!”
