When your child brings home artwork, NCA's art teacher, Mr. Dant, reminds us that a few thoughtful questions can help children take more ownership of their creativity, notice their choices, and feel proud of the process—not just the finished product.
Instead of asking, “What is it?” try: Tell me about your artwork!”
Instead of a quick compliment, take note of something specific: “Your repeating lines really catch my eye!”
Instead of deciding where it goes, ask: “What would you like to do with your art?”
You can also invite your child to think like an artist by asking about the elements and principles they used, such as line, shape, color, texture, pattern, contrast, movement, or balance.
These small shifts open the door to deeper conversations and help students see themselves as thoughtful, creative artists. Thank you, Mr. Dant, for helping our Wildcats learn how to look, create, reflect, and share!

Today, we’re celebrating NCA alumni who went on to Lane Tech High School. All nine NCA graduates from the Class of 2022 graduated on Monday, June 1, with Summa Cum Laude honors—the highest academic distinction.
We are so proud of these Wildcats and the hard work, dedication, and excellence they continue to show beyond NCA. Check out where they're headed next! Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat! 💙

NCA is excited to participate in the neighborhood-wide Edgewater Yard Sale this Saturday, June 6!
Families are invited to donate unwanted items in good condition, and NCA will sell them during the event, with all proceeds benefiting our school.
This is a great opportunity to clear out closets, basements, toy bins, bookshelves, and storage spaces while supporting our Wildcat community. Donations may include gently used household items, toys, games, books, décor, sports equipment, and other items that are clean, complete, and ready for a new home.
Thank you for helping us turn your gently used treasures into support for NCA!
Questions? Email Missy Tully at [email protected], or use the sign-up link to volunteer or donate items: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4EAEA72DA5F5C70-63886137-edgewater #/

Our 4th graders took part in a beautiful pilgrimage with St. Francis, led by Fr. Mike Gabriel and Fr. Mike Bradley. Students learned about St. Francis’ prayers, his life, and his deep love for animals, creation, the poor, and the Crucified Christ.
Sr. Susan Quaintance also taught the children about St. Gertrude Parish’s ministry to the sick and elderly, helping them see how faith is lived through service right here in our community.
To put their learning into action, Ms. Sullivan helped the class collect food donations for Care for Real and planted flowers and vegetables for the parish garden—living out NCA’s mission to form hands that serve through a meaningful day of prayer and learning.
