6th grade and Kindergarten buddies joined together for an afternoon of fun! 💙💚❤️💛

They enjoyed activities designed to help them get to know one another, shared stories from the first week of school and continued to build connections that will grow over the next few years. We love seeing our older Wildcats lead by example—and knowing our youngest Wildcats will always be able to find a friendly face to look up to!

Four Houses in one Wildcat community 💙💚❤️💛

On Friday, we wrapped up our first week back to school with House Sorting Day! New students, teachers and staff were welcomed into one of our four Houses—Acutis, Cabrini, Day or Tolton—by our 8th grade leaders.

Each new House member received a fist bump from their Head of House and Warren the Wildcat before selecting the House shirt they’ll proudly wear every Friday throughout the school year.

⚽️ A strong start to Wildcat soccer!

Varsity earned an impressive 8–1 victory over St. Juliana Wednesday night, bringing their season record to 1–1. JV battled St. Juliana to a tie after securing a win over Queen of All Saints on Monday.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Fr. Dominic Grassi, former pastor of St. Gertrude Parish and former president of Northside Catholic Academy.

Fr. Dom served St. Gertrude for 11 years and was a beloved priest, teacher, writer and spiritual leader whose ministry touched countless lives. A devoted champion of Catholic education, he received the National Catholic Educational Association’s Distinguished Pastor Award in 2012. Through his books, homilies and everyday encounters, he encouraged others to recognize God’s grace in unexpected places.

Information about the wake and funeral is not yet available, but we will share those details as we receive them.

We are deeply grateful for Fr. Dom’s years of leadership and faith to St. Gertrude, NCA, and all the Chicago communities he served. Please keep Fr. Dom’s family, friends and all the communities he faithfully served in your prayers. May he rest in eternal peace.
