Inspired by the “Greetings From Chicago Mural,” (which's is in the style of a vintage postcard) students created small “Greetings From Metro” postcards to send to loved ones. And collaborated school wide on a large scale “Greetings From Metro” mural.

A couple weeks ago we welcomed the Cook County Agriculture in the Classroom to Metro to teach us about Illinois' soil health and how it is integral in feeding the country. Did you know that people come from all over the world to study the soil in Illinois?
After the presentation, high school students analyzed soil samples from around the Chicagoland area. We had some unexpected guests in the samples!

Our Metro election was a success!
From petitions, to campaign advertisements and speeches, our students learned about the election process from start to finish!
The Metro Election was not just an exercise in civic responsibility- it determined our club offerings post winter break.
The line-up beginning Monday, January 6th, will be:
Monday- Science Club- Jen & Brooke
Tuesday- STEM Club- Maria & Kate
Wednesday- Art Club- Kate & Brooke
Thursday- D&D and Pokemon Clubs- Claire & Sarah
Rubik’s Cube Club- lunch mini-club (no sign-up required)

In science, our Brown Line pod is learning about inherited traits in animals. They completed a science activity where students were given challenge cards with a certain species and the parental traits they’d inherit. Then they used play doh to create what the offspring would look like!

What an amazing way to spend the last day before spring break!
Our students learned about Mexican culture, had a guided tour at the National Museum of Mexican Art followed by a taco lunch where we practiced our Spanish skills!
