MCC’s AAS in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology and AAS in Diagnostic Medical Imaging Radiography programs recently hosted an Occupational Advisory Committee meeting at our Cleveland campus.

A special thank you to Michelle Dossa, Talon Stephens, and Anthony Marini for sharing their expertise and insights. After a tour of MCC’s MRI and X-ray teaching lab facilities, these diagnostic imaging professionals provided valuable feedback on hiring trends, industry updates, and opportunities to continue strengthening MCC’s curriculum.

Many thanks to our industry partners for helping us prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in today’s healthcare workforce.

Skill of the Week: Radiation Safety ☢️

Did you know that radiation safety is one of the most important skills in medical imaging?
Radiography professionals are trained to minimize radiation exposure for patients, themselves, and other healthcare staff through proper shielding, precise positioning and exposure techniques, and strict safety protocols.

Every image is taken with patient safety as the top priority—using the lowest radiation dose necessary while maintaining the image quality needed for accurate diagnosis.

Because radiation protection isn’t just a skill—it’s a responsibility.

Midwestern Career College’s Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography has earned Initial Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), effective July 15, 2026.
‌
This milestone reflects our Sonography program’s commitment to nationally established standards for diagnostic medical sonography education. During the accreditation review, the program was found to have no areas of non-compliance with CAAHEP’s accreditation standards. The program’s Initial Accreditation is effective through the next comprehensive review in 2031.
‌
For students, CAAHEP accreditation means the program has undergone an independent review to verify that it meets nationally established educational standards for educating future sonographers.
‌
This achievement represents the collective efforts of everyone who has helped build and strengthen our AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Thank you to our faculty, clinical affiliates, students, alumni, and staff for making this accomplishment possible.

World Brain Day 🧠

More than 3.4 billion people worldwide live with neurological conditions, making disorders of the brain and nervous system the leading cause of disability globally.

The good news? You can support your brain health every day. Small, consistent habits—quality sleep, regular exercise, balanced nutrition, stress management, and staying mentally and socially active—can make a meaningful difference.

This World Brain Day, let’s raise awareness, prioritize brain health, and encourage one another to care for the organ that makes us who we are.

July is Disability Pride Month! ♿💙

Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the identities, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities while promoting accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity for everyone.

Did you know? Disability Pride Month began as a celebration in Boston in 1990 to commemorate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. In 2015, it expanded into the month-long observance now recognized around the world.

This month reminds us that disability is a natural part of human diversity and that creating welcoming, accessible communities benefits us all. Together, we can continue fostering respect, understanding, and opportunity for everyone.

Happy Disability Pride Month!
