Please note that in the link above Venus won't show up until 22:10 UTC. The transit will last for a few hours until 4:50 UTC (June 6), so you should have plenty of time to catch it.

Introduction to astronomy including current research topics
I'm sure my astronomy friends are aware of this, but be sure to check out the transit of Venus today because the next one will be in 2117.

Jesse presents his research
Dear friends,
We are now only 3 days away from my trip to Chicago and I'm very excited and grateful for your support. Most of the logistics are handled so just need your help funding the nurse. Once again thanks for all your generous contributions.
Best wishes,
Jesse
Dear friends,
Thanks to your support we are now 1/4 of the way to reaching our goal of raising $2000 so that I can travel to Chicago to give a scientific presentation at the University of Chicago. I will be presenting on the topic of my dissertation research, the supernova rate in the local universe. Since the event is only 4 weeks away I need your help more than ever because I have to pay for airfare before it gets too expensive. Any amount you can afford to give is greatly appreciated.
Best wishes and happy Valentine's Day!
Jesse
