Krystal's advice for bootcamp students:
"Even if you are scared to try new things or are scared of change, go for it! We are all capable of greatness and this program allows you to be great. Take in as much information as you can, ask all of the questions, it’s okay if you get stuck just don’t give up! This program is life changing and the staff at Actualize help you to be come successful and they nurture your growth. There is no other program with that kind of foundation out there! You can do it!"

"Actualize was, in fact, the only bootcamp I applied to after deciding to learn how to code—I found their program on Course Report and sent off an application, telling myself I'd go back and consider other options later. However, after hearing back from their enrollment team and especially after interviewing with Ricky, I decided to jump into their program. This is a decision I have not questioned even once in the past four months. I think the first thing that stands out to me about this school is how relaxed, considerate, and friendly the faculty and program are as a whole, providing extensive feedback and support not only about coding, technical skills, and the process of job searching, but also in regards to emotional well-being and maintaining life-work balance. My instructor was Amanda, who is both a phenomenal teacher and a real sweetheart; her guidance and instruction was only outmatched by her encouragement, positive attitude, and outstanding ability to coax out the best in her students. It's hard to overstate how crucial that community aspect was to my experience at Actualize—after only 12 weeks of digital meetings, I find myself feeling close to the people I have studied and worked with here, and am excited to see what they go on to do. To that end, Actualize also provides excellent guidance in its charmingly-titled "Job Hacking" course, which course I am really grateful to have as a continued part of the education I have received here. Overall, this is a phenomenal school providing the best in online bootcamp learning; I have already recommended the program to a few friends and will continue to do so any time someone asks me about coding bootcamp."

"Once I graduated I felt a little lost for the first week without the regular structure of class every day. I talked to my career counselor, Sarah, and we set up a daily routine that I entered into my calendar. Having it there to look at every day was very motivating. I continued to work on projects, do algorithm practice and set aside time every day to apply for jobs. I attended every interview prep class/lecture/meetup that I could find. Staying engaged and getting as much practice as possible helped me to go into my interviews with confidence."

If your code contains mismatched parentheses (or brackets or braces), tracking down the errant parenthesis can feel like a wild goose chase. However, there are some neat little tricks in VSCode that can make your hunt much easier.

Today we're highlighting our Dean of Instruction and Lead Instructor, Peter Jang! Peter's commitment to continually improving the curriculum and support we offer at Actualize has had a positive impact on all of our students, and his meta-game insights give him the occasional competitive edge in After Hours.
Two truths and a lie about Peter:
•He sings karaoke in fluent Spanish despite not knowing how to speak Spanish
•He got kicked out of a dueling piano bar for trying to perform on stage
