I tried Paella, the traditional Spanish dish, and tried new foods every place we traveled, including the Portuguese dessert, pastel de nata!
✨️What is one touristy thing that is totally worth it?
Going inside the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona!
✨️What did you cross off your bucket list?
Seeing the tulip festival in Holland, Netherlands

Spend this summer in Italy! Join Professor Iusco to learn about this incredible opportunity to spend 5 weeks in Italy.
Summer 2024 program will give students a unique opportunity to study and live in two different Italian cities: Rome - heart of Italy and Salerno - Campania.
This program is ideal for students who want to learn about Italian culture, arts and start or continue their studies in Italian. The program will start with a 4 day orientation in Rome with visits to Colosseo & Fori Imperiali, Vatican and St. Pietro Dome, just to mention a few. After orientation in Rome, students will travel to Salerno to continue their coursework where they will study at the Accademia Italiana. Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn 7 hours of UIC credit.

Spend this summer in Korea! Join Professor Kim to learn about this incredible opportunity to spend 4 weeks in Korea.
This program will give students an opportunity to become familiar with Korean history and culture: develop a broad understanding of the historical, social and cultural issues in Korea; to develop an awareness of, analyze and evaluate their own cultural assumptions of Korea; to compare and contrast Korean culture and their own; to read and interpret sources and apply them to understand the issues of the past and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to international/intercultural issues.

Announcing a new scholarship to honor the late Executive Director, Dr. Chris Deegan. He devoted his career to supporting students in finding scholarships to make study abroad more accessible. Through generous support from the field, friends, and family students can now apply for awards of up to $1,000 towards their study abroad program. Thank you to the Chancellor’s Office for supporting the cohort two of the First Gen Flames Abroad Scholars in their future study abroad goals. These nine impressive students received the First Gen Flames Abroad Scholarship to fund their study abroad and were honored this past weekend at a reception with remarks from Chancellor Reyes. Students can use the award at any point in their undergraduate studies on a UIC faculty-directed program or UIC exchange program. More information for funding opportunities for future students will be available in early April.

Huge congratulations to our 14 students who received a total of $66,000 towards their upcoming study abroad programs!! The Gilman International Scholarship is a nationally-competitive scholarship and we are blown away by the awards earned this application cycle.
