Dear Salpointe family,
It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of our beloved Fr. Vernon Malley on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was surrounded with the love and prayers of his family, friends and Carmelite brothers. We are grateful for Fr. Vern’s longtime love of the Lancers and we have every confidence that our loving God has welcomed him with joy. Fr. Vernon is the brother of Fr. John Malley, O.Carm. RIP. The brothers Malley are united once again!
Almighty Father, eternal God, hear our prayers for Your son Vernon whom You have called from this life to Yourself. Grant him light, happiness, peace and eternal life in Your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Class of 1966 Remembers Those Who Could Not Join Us
_____________
Not Pictured
Name: Every Carmel Man 66
I was at Eckersoll, Gately, Soldiers Field, Alumni Hall, the Stadium, Michael Kirby and Jackson Park.
I hung out a Mann Park, Dawes Park, South Shore Park, Avalon Park, Cal Park, Trumbull Park and Rainbow.
I traveled Stoney Island, Jeffrey, Ewing, Commercial, Lake Shore Drive, Western, Ashland, 103rd, 79th, 87th , 75th.
I faced Brother Rice, Rita, Leo, the dreaded Alvernia debaters and difficult prom dates from Aquinas, Mercy, McAuley, St Francis and CVS.
I was stationed in Viet Nam, Korea, Germany and I cleaned up chemicals in Iraq.
I policed, counted, made steel, pushed paper, programmed, healed the sick and went to court. Retired?
I’m sorry fellas. I can’t make the party because:
- I didn’t live to see 1966.
- I did not make it back from Vietnam.
- I brought Vietnam home with me
- I’m still caring for a parent.
- My business took a hit in 2008. Still recovering.
- I am raising a grandchild.
- My wife is in memory care.
- My kid is rehabbing from Iraq or Afghanistan.
I hope you will think about me and you might have a prayer for a classmate who can’t be there.
