Couldn’t escape the rain today. Absolutely pouring at this Chicago White Sox game! 2:30pm in the afternoon, but it’s completely dark out!

That’s a wrap on the first ever Chicago Climate Week. What a fantastic experience! So many great events with interesting information and people. What I enjoyed most though was the positive energy. The number of passionate individuals focused on solving problems was truly inspiring. There’s been lots of bad headlines the last couple of years, but after this week, I’m more hopeful than ever that we can come together and ensure a better future for all. Let’s turn this “moment” into a movement!

Chicago Climate Week has been an absolute blast so far! Looking forward to finishing it out strong with Marketplace Of The Future, Saturday afternoon and evening at mHUB. You'll find me volunteering on the second floor. Be sure to say hello!

HISTORICALLY POOR AIR QUALITY...As of Thursday afternoon, Chicago's air quality has reached hazardous levels due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. This level was last seen in June 2023, but the current smoke event has now surpassed that, with the AQI reaching 549. Hazardous air quality begins at 300. With these conditions, everyone's health can be impacted. Outdoor activity should be avoided. If you do venture out, wear a N95 or KN95 mask.

Little to no improvement is expected for the rest of today and tonight. Gradual improvement should begin Friday afternoon. Moderate air quality should return by Saturday evening.

Just retuned from a family vacation and was struck by this view while flying over Illinois. A field of wind turbines as far as the eye can see! Proof that the clean energy revolution is well underway.

Looking forward to discussing this and much more during Chicago Climate Week beginning Wednesday!

Hello Facebook! It's been a while...I've been busy! For the past 8 months, I've been starting a new career in teaching. I'm now an Adjunct Professor of Earth Science at Harold Washington College and an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Science at National Louis University. It's been a transition from the media world! But I've enjoyed learning new skills while sharing my passion for science with students.

As I wrap up my spring teaching duties, I'm looking ahead to my next adventure. I'd like to continue to teach Earth and environmental science at the college or high school level. That said, I'm also open to any full-time roles focused on climate change, mitigating the risks from extreme weather, or building a more sustainable future. If you're hiring for a position like that or know someone who is, I'd love to hear about it. I'd like to stay in Chicago, but am open to remote work anywhere in the U.S.

Hope you're all doing well! Thanks for continuing to follow this page and Happy Earth Month!
