♟️🏆 St. Ethelreda Chess Team Takes 3rd Place! 🏆♟️

Huge congratulations to our incredible chess team for placing 3rd in both the K-4 Novice Section and the K-6 Reserve Section at the Greater Chicago Chess Championship! 🎉 With nearly 700 players competing at McCormick Place, our students showed strategy, determination, and teamwork!

Shoutout to our K-4 team captains, Kyrihn Cooper & Karter Hill, who led their team to victory, each scoring 4 out of 5 and earning medals! Also, great performances from Alexis Atomori, Royalty Clark, and Joia Crawford!

♟️ In the K-6 Reserve Section, team captains Braylon Norwood and Elijah Massenburg played outstanding games. JoSyah Kemp and Kaiden Smith had strong finishes as well!

🏅 Big props for good performances to team captains in the K-8 Lana Sanford and Royal Rush in the K-8 Novice Section with Kaeden Delk, Erik McWilliams, Ameen Watkins, and Aaron Chaney representing St. Ethelreda in that section as well.

A heartfelt thank you to Coach Luster for his dedication, coaching, and passion in leading our chess players to success!

Last week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders took an exciting walking field trip to Brainerd Library, where they met two amazing paramedics who are also firefighters! 🚒They read stories about fire safety and answered nearly 50 questions from our students. Each student went home with a special bag that included a refrigerator magnet with emergency numbers and a fire safety coloring book. A big thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Waters for joining us on this fun and educational adventure! 📚
