JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores' going out of business sale is a joke. Their former sales were far better markdowns. Practically all notions are gone. Their fabric was never high quality and was overpriced to start with. The only times I personally shopped these stores was when there were pattern sales or I was desprate for an item to complete a project. I know JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores will be missed in areas where there is nothing else, but you have alternatives online. Simplicity Patterns runs pattern sales. Currently Diane von Furstenberg Vogue Patterns are on sale. Hart Fabrics is a great resource online. Shop the better fabric stores online like Mood Designer Fabrics, Elliott Berman Textiles | Exclusive Fashion Fabrics, Marcy Tilton Fabrics. Shop where you vacation. I have brought beautiful fabrics home from London and Paris.

Happy Birthday Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga!

Franco-American designer Pauline Trigère was a brilliant technician with exquisite taste. The daughter of a tailor and a dressmaker, she elevated the quality of American ready-to-wear during her long career. Trigère also had a great interest in interior decoration. Featured in popular magazines, both her Manhattan apartment and suburban home were balanced blends of neutral and bold colors, patterns, and antique and contemporary furnishings.
