🎉 We’re thrilled to launch a new series that celebrates the heart of our community - Guest Teachers! Join us as we shine a spotlight on the inspiring individuals who bring their unique experiences to the classroom.

To kick things off, we’re honored to introduce you to Lindsey, a Chicago native and professional artist who (unexpectedly) launched his education career in 2006. By creating meaningful connections and adding representation as a Black male educator, Lindsey’s impact as a role model extends far beyond the walls of his classroom.

🗣️ Lindsey shares, “Beyond engagement, it’s about acknowledgement. And acknowledgement is crucial for young People of Color who often grow up feeling invisible and dismissed. I carry that into the classroom because I want these kids to feel seen.”

Happy Substitute Educators Day! 🎉With record high teacher shortages paired with the aftermath of pandemic learning loss, students across the country are in major need of emotional and educational support. Our Guest Teachers are helping close these gaps for students. So far this year, Kokua teachers have supported nearly 50,000 teaching days - which equals about 350,000 learning hours for students.
