We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of one of our own.
Today, we honor the life of a remarkable young man — a gifted athlete, a dedicated student, and a bright light within our school community.
He was known for his love of basketball, his passion for dancing, his unforgettable smile, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His talent on the court earned him the opportunity to continue his basketball journey at the collegiate level, a dream he worked tirelessly to achieve. More importantly, he will be remembered for his kindness, his spirit, and the positive impact he made on those around him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and all who loved him during this incredibly difficult time. His memory will forever remain a part of our school family.
Once a Spartan, always a Spartan! 🪽💛🖤 we love you DJ.

Today, our hearts are full of pride.
Makayla and Areiona were selected as winners at the Regional Chicago Metro History Fair in February 2026, earning the honor to compete at the Illinois State History Fair in Springfield, Illinois. Out of more than 10,000 contestants across the entire state, they finished as one of the Top 15 Group Exhibits in Illinois.
Their achievement is even more remarkable when you consider they competed against some of the most recognized schools in the state, including Walter Payton, Lane Tech, Whitney Young, and Stevenson High School.
Yet today, it is Orr Academy High School standing tall with pride. Makayla and Areiona represent the very best of our students: hard work, determination, intelligence, and excellence. They are true Spartan Scholars and an inspiration to everyone in our community.
We are beyond proud of you both. You have shown the state what Orr is made of. The future is bright because of students like you. Great things are happening here at Orr.
