Moon Yoga Guide: New Moon in Cancer
Just in time for today’s new moon it’s time again for the
With the Cancer New Moon, it will be time to go inside again. Cancer is the zodiac sign that is probably most deeply connected to its emotions. For this new moon, it’s “feel all your feelings! “
Also, spend time with your family and closest friends and make yourself feel so comfortable at home! Ask yourself what your deepest desires are and let your intuition speak to you.

Questions to ask yourself this new moon:
• What can you do to perceive your deepest feelings even better?
• What feelings, desires and visions are hidden inside you?
• What does home and security mean to you? How can you create a safe home for yourself in your own four walls and within yourself?
• Monitor the connection with your family and closest friends. How is she ? What can you do to strengthen them?
Our new moon cancer yoga practice consists of heart openers and asanas that connect us to the water element - hip openers.
Also, at the beginning of your yoga practice, take time to place both hands on your heart, let your heart speak to you and feel all the feelings within you 💙

A big part of being at peace involves our ability to sit with discomfort. Not everything in life feels good, or is easy to deal with or comprehend. Sometimes we are the source of our greatest discomfort, and sometimes other people or the events around us give us an opportunity to lean into our fear, our rage, our guilt, grief or shame. It isn’t easy, but it’s how we learn and grow.
We all have our stuff, and even if you do the work to heal, to become intimately acquainted with the source of your pain, the things that trigger you, or the thoughts and tendencies that weaken you, it’s likely that you’ll have to grapple with them from time to time, because you’re human and this is no easy gig. But a lot of the time, we resist and contract against our own experience, especially if it’s messy, complicated, disappointing or uncomfortable.

You may be familiar with the summer solstice as the longest day of the year or as the first day of summer, but it is also symbolic of coming into our fullness. Tomorrow when the sun is at its highest point (closest to earth in the Northern Hemisphere), we may also feel a surge of energy ⚡️
Summer solstice (also known as “Litha” or Midsummer) is a day of inner power and brightness.
This makes the solstice an auspicious day to harness our solar energy (our passion and inspiration) and set an intention or goal for the next phase of our year. Equinox is only a few months away and this is the perfect time to realize our peak aspirations.
The summer solstice is a time to come together, appreciate the longest day of the year, welcome in the warm weather, and celebrate new beginnings. The theme of this holiday is all about inspiration, joy, and play!
The day filled with the most light is also our opportunity to give reverence to your fullest self and your biggest dreams with reflection and gratitude. The summer solstice is a time where we can set intentions that will carry into the next chapter and bring about lasting, positive change.

How effective is a regular practice of sun salutations in improving muscle strength, general body endurance and body composition?
Good question!
One 2009 study, in which 49 male and 30 female participants performed 24 cycles of sun salutations, 6 days a week for 24 weeks — found that SUN SALUTATIONS CAN BE AN IDEAL EXERCISE TO KEEP ONESELF IN OPTIMUM LEVEL OF FITNESS.

The study found a significant increase in muscle strength, general body endurance (measured by push-up and sit-up tests), and upper body muscle strength (measured by bench press method) for both male and female subjects. A significant decrease in body fat percent
was observed in female subjects (but not in male subjects), while BMI significantly decreased and LBM increased in both the groups.
"Results of the present study indicate that sun salutation has the potential to improve the muscle strength, general body endurance and body composition to the optimum level in healthy individuals. These components in turn, enhance an individual's physical fitness. Sun salutation does not require any tools or gadgets, limited space is enough to perform them and only a few minutes are necessary to perform a given number of cycles. Generally, resistance training which improves muscle strength and aerobic exercises which improve body endurance and body composition are believed to be the essential components of a fitness regimen. However, from the present study, it can be concluded that sun salutation is an easier and less time consuming alternative to improve strength, body composition and general body endurance.”
