Paul Wertico | Fearlessly Creative Drummer | Drum Magazine The incredibly versatile Paul Wertico has won seven Grammys in categories including jazz fusion, contemporary jazz, and instrumental rock.

Besides teaching drums privately for over 55 years, I’ve also had the honor and pleasure of teaching music at a number of prestigious schools, including 21 years now at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Art, where, as a tenured Associate Professor Jazz and Contemporary Music Studies, I’ve had (and have) so many amazing students. This Spring semester I’ve been coaching two great combos, including the Avant-Garde Combo who just performed a concert on Monday, April 1 in RU’s Gage Gallery. Here’s a video of one of the compositions they performed (“Asr” composed by Abdullah Ibrahim). I hope you agree with me that the future of music is in very good hands!!!
